RIP, Dr. Norihiko Fukuta

Kathy sends an E-Mail from Salt Lake City:
Dr. Fukuta passed away last night from kidney failure. There will be no funeral. There will be an obituary in the Tribune with further information. That's all I know right now.
I worked with Dr. Fukuta for one year (1989-1990). He was one interesting fellow, who specialized in cloud physics. Just a little too young for WWII, Dr. Fukuta was one of a pioneering group of immigrant Japanese Ph.D.'s who came to the U.S. in the 1950's to fuse traditional Japanese attention to workmanship with American scientific verve and seize the mantle of world scientific leadership.
