Here We Come (Ready or Not) - Rod Carrillo & Shefali

Cloud Cover

We're getting some cloud cover and they're getting some sprinkles up on the coast by Ft. Bragg from disintegrating Hurricane Marie. It's hardly anything but it's better than nothing.

DHI Russia, Moscow 2014 Workshop Laure Courtellemont - 'Til It Buck'

Laure Courtellemont - that most-amazing dance teacher! - has a number of new videos on YouTube, including this one, instructing students in Moscow to dance 'Til It Buck', the same dance she began to teach us earlier this year. I like the pot-themed San Diego shirt: I wonder what they make of that in Moscow? Anyway, the video is unusually clear in showing Laure's movements too.

Late Night Skunk

From August 2nd. They like my place. The skunk entered the back yard and in the time it took me to post the picture to Facebook it appeared to vanish. Where did it go? The basement was open. There really aren't exits from the yard. So, I gingerly made the exit from the back gate easier to negotiate, in the hope the skunk took the hint and wanted the nickname Houdini.

Skunks are like polar bears. They really aren't seriously afraid of anyone and they go where they please

Mendacity

The other night on TCM they had "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof". Burl Ives' "Mendacity" speech is priceless!

Rain So Far This Year In New Mexico

Sort-of a NW-SE bifurcation: wetter than normal in the NE, drier than normal in the SW.

"Breaking Bad" Wins Five Emmys

I was most-excited by these two awards. 'Ozymandias' was out-of-sight!:
Anna Gunn earned her second consecutive Outstanding Supporting Actress award. This was her second Emmy award for Breaking Bad and her third nomination. Other contenders in the category included: Maggie Smith (PBS’s Downton Abbey), Joanne Froggatt (PBS’s Downton Abbey), Lena Headey (HBO’s Game of Thrones), Christine Baranski (CBS’s The Good Wife) and Christina Hendricks (AMC’s Mad Men). (Click here to read an interview with Anna Gunn.)

Additionally, Breaking Bad was awarded for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. Moira Walley-Beckett accepted the award for her work on Season 5, Episode 16,”Ozymandias.”

I Snoozed On, But Fitfully

I didn't exactly wake up from the Napa Valley earthquake, but I did hear noises on the roof all morning long and did have a dream about monsters.

Sierra Research To Be Acquired By Trinity Consultants

Business news:
Founded in 1974, Trinity operates in more than 40 locations across the globe. Sierra was funded in 1981 and has an office in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Sierra had revenue of $7.17 million in 2013 and was the 11th largest environmental consulting firm in Sacramento, according to Business Journal research.

“Although both companies have a strong air quality focus, we each bring somewhat different skills to the market,” Paul Greywall, Trinity’s director of business development, said in a news release. “The Sierra team’s deep knowledge of mobile air emissions sources, the California market, and state air quality planning programs are synergistic to Trinity’s long-term growth plans. We believe Sierra and Trinity’s clients will benefit from our combined resources and expertise.”
