Dyslexic Man Storms Area 15 – No Charges Will Be Filed – Authorities “Feel Bad”

A dyslexic man named Marc Arlington thought he would be joined by the force of 3.2 million people when he stormed Area 15 yesterday. He was disappointed when he arrived at a relatively empty government building in the desert and was quickly detained by a lone security guard.

...When asked whether or not he would go back to the real Area 51 raid on September 20th, Marc said he would try his best to make it. He said dealing with dyslexia and trying to stay connected on social media is a tough task. “My dyslexia has reached a new owl.”

The Insolence Of These Squirrels!

California Can Finally Have Nice Things

Now that the legislature has progressive supermajorities, California can finally have nice things:
None of this legislation would have been politically possible in prior years. “Dems had a very slim assembly supermajority before, but 2018 victories significantly expanded it, giving us more breathing room,” says David Atkins, Region 10 Director of the California Democratic Party.

He cites a combination of factors in this shift. First, Republican incumbents lost to Democratic challengers in places like SD 14, which is centered in Fresno and Bakersfield, and AD 38 in the hilly suburbs above Los Angeles. Some of this reflects changes in voting patterns. Orange County, the historic GOP bastion where Ronald Reagan’s political career began, now has more registered Democrats than Republicans.

Rats Love Hide-and-Seek

Science can be fun!:
Why did the rats play along? It’s possible that they were going after tickles and other social rewards. After all, for two decades researchers have known that rats enjoy being tickled and react by producing ultrasonic chirps that can be compared to laughter. But Reinhold found that once discovered, the rats would often run away and re-hide, delaying their reward and prolonging the game itself. “It seemed really playful,” she says.

She and her colleagues believe that rather than pursuing rewards, the rats were playing for the sake of it. They played because they had fun. For a start, and this is an unusual but welcome line to see in a scientific paper, “the animals looked like they are having fun,” the team writes. When they reunited with Reinhold, they frantically jumped on the spot—a behavior delightfully known as freudensprung, or “joy jumps.” They also teased Reinhold by repeatedly getting close and running away.

Civil War Cannonball Found

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — A man stumbled onto a piece of history when he found a Civil War cannonball lodged in a tree he was hired to remove.

The tree on the Overfelt-Johnston house at Pleasant and Walnut streets was diseased and needed to come down.

The man hired to do that was chopping up leftover pieces when the small cannonball fell out.

"Because of where it was located at, the historical value of this piece -- it was a surprise. But at the same time, it was, like, wow," said Jeff Eastham.

It's Not Fair!

Biden's Lies

Biden lies about important stuff nearly as much as Trump, and that bothers me. I clearly remember Biden’s statements regarding the Iraq War:
Biden did initially back a bill, along with Republican Sen. Richard Lugar, which would have somewhat constrained Bush's capacity to launch an invasion of Iraq completely at his whim. But the Bush administration opposed the measure. One might have thought that such opposition would lead Biden to conclude that Bush insisting on not having any constraint would be a reason not to write him a blank check. But Biden ultimately voted for the legislation giving Bush the complete license the president wanted.
