70,000 female cochineal beetles must be crushed and dried to create one pound of the reddish Carmine pigment used in many food products, including the following:
- Good & Plenty candy;
- Dannon Fruit on the Bottom Boysenberry yogurt;
- Yoplait Thick & Creamy Low Fat Strawberry yogurt;
- Tropicana Ruby Red Grapefruit juice;
- Tropicana Orange Strawberry Banana juice; and,
- SoBe Courage Cherry Citrus drink.
