La Hacienda de Placitas

On Saturday, October 8th, I was in Bernalillo with my relatives. Fortunately there was a gifts and antiques shop at the Range Cafe, so while they were diverted for a few minutes, I dashed up towards Placitas to check out La Hacienda de Placitas. At the last minute, my nephew Aaron joined me.

Our timing was fortunate. Even though co-owner Laura Bass was leaving on an errand, her husband, Steve Bass, was available, and consented to give us a tour of their Bed-and-Breakfast establishment.

The filming occurred in May, 2011, and it was a bit chilly when they did so.

If you look carefully at the views of the distant WNW horizon, you can see Cabezon (also featured in Season 3, Episode 1, "No Mas")!

Bathroom area at La Hacienda de Placitas. The AMC crew placed an insert in the doorway here, and a prop toilet here as well, for Gus's use (this particular room is a room for baths only, and features no toilet).

(If I might be so bold) Steve and Laura Bass are willing to entertain offers on their gorgeous establishment (several million dollar range).

After watching....watching again....and buying the series Breaking Bad, I am really a fan. 2 questions ...
    1) How can I secure accomodations at this Bed & Breakfast and costs ?
    2) I would like to purchase a single wad / stack of the fake $50.00 that were used in the series ... who do I contact ?

  2. Hi!

I have no idea about costs, but I found a phone number on the Web: (505) 867-0082. Regarding the $$$, that sounds like a Michael Flowers question. Will forward.

    1. Michael Flowers, who was Set Dresser on Breaking Bad, replies: "thatb was all rented from a prop house in Los Angeles.... the FBI doesn't like fake floating around so they keep a hardcore grip on movies.... i tried to make some myself by scanning real money on the xerox machine we had in the art department and the machine shut down LOL it is programmed to not allow it, it COULD be scanned on a regular scanner, but it's a very big no no in Hollywood.... it's just about impossible to get your hands on it."
