Sacramento Executive Airport reported a high of 96 degrees, topping the previous record of 94 degrees set in 1991, said Nathan Owen, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
Downtown Sacramento had a high of 95 degrees, also topping the record of 94 degrees in 1991.
Modesto also recorded a high of 96 degrees, surpassing the previous record of 93 degrees set in 2010, and Stockton topped out at 98 degrees, three degrees above the previous record high of 95 degrees reported in 1978.
