Marq and Ed's Breaking Bad Finale Party In Albuquerque
Michael Flowers put this video together. My nephew Aaron and my sisters Marra and Michelle are featured here.
What an amazing amount of work by Marq Smith and Ed Candelaria, to put this most-amazing party together! It's the best-organized, most-well-thought-out party I've ever seen in my entire life!
I started working on creating an almanac of Breaking Bad locations in May, 2010. At first, when I visited Albuquerque, I saw little evidence of fan organization. I chalked it up to insufficient time to develop. That was correct. Ed and Marq's Facebook group, Miguel Jaramillo's Twitter group, and an entire constellation of smaller formal and informal groups in Albuquerque, Los Lunas, El Paso, Romania (!) and elsewhere evolved in the last three years. It's been a pleasure to watch the growth!
Even more gratifying has been to experience just how grateful people are for the support I offered. Ed and Marq state that they would never would have been able to do what they did without my help. They offered unreserved thanks at both the meet-and-greet dinner on Saturday and the Finale party on Sunday. They even allowed me to bring my family, three guests, when everyone else was limited to one. Everywhere I go, people are expressing thanks, and making efforts to know me better. Even from the AMC Locations people, I sense respect and an impish pleasure at my work. They've done an amazing job too, finding these places and winnowing them out, and who better to appreciate their hard work than someone like me?
It's been a bumpy road at times, but the payoff for all the hard work is now....
