Mystery Of The Empty Nest

The last two days, I had noticed that the jays had disappeared from the vicinity of my house, which I took to be ominous. After all, there was still a baby bird in the nest in the hedge.

Or at least, so I thought. This evening, I got the ladder and checked out the nest - empty. And yet, no body.

So, something bad happened. A predator attack? Squirrel, possum, cat? Or maybe the body had fallen and was scavenged.

In any event, it looks like Baby Blue is a foundling.....
