New Mexico Hiatus

I'm heading tomorrow to Albuquerque, to attend an academic convention, photograph filming locations for a variety of TV series and movies, and see family.

If you are in Albuquerque on Friday, February 22nd, I invite you to attend six academic presentations regarding "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul." The occasion is the 40th Annual Southwest Popular/American Culture Association Conference, held downtown at the Hyatt Regency Hotel and Conference Center, in a room called Enchantment C.

First session (9:00 AM - 10:30 AM)
Presentations: Bad Cops Make Good Heroes, Breaking Bad Stereotypes: Hispanic and Latinx Representation in Television, When Men Break Bad, Better Call the Women: Rethinking the Hypermasculinity of "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul" as Feminist Text
Presenters: Cyndy Hendershot, Paul Nunis, Phoebe Cummins, Elizabeth LeDoux

Second session (10:45 AM - 12:15 PM)
Presentations: Breaking Bad In The Business School: A Crystal Blue Case Study, Reading Meaning into Sets, Props, and Filming Locations of “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul”
Presenters: Nick Gerlich, Marc Valdez

My talk will be mostly visual - a PowerPoint presentation emphasizing buildings and backgrounds in Season 4 of "Better Call Saul," and the various hidden messages they encode. Fun stuff!

Come on down!
