"Mark Felt"
Saw "Mark Felt" tonight at the Tower. Quite good.
It's hard to do a Watergate movie because of the scandal's sprawling nature, involving hundreds of people, so they keep it simple by focusing just on the FBI, and on no more than about 20 people. Of course, I was raised on Watergate, so it felt just like home, tracking all the details.

Sacramento "Normal"
The 2017-18 California rainy season has gotten off to a slow start. The recent rains have brought us to exactly normal for the date in Sacramento. Nevertheless, as you can see, we are right on the boundary of what's considered "normal." Just a few miles away, they are hurting.
Trump Decides Hundreds of Battle-Hardened Terrorists Should Go Free

The BBC broke the bombshell report that the United States and its local allies worked out a deal with Daesh (ISIS, ISIL) in Raqqa, Syria, to allow them to depart. There were still 250 hardened fighters along with 3500 family members in the capital of the phony “caliphate.”
Raqqa had largely been reduced to rubble, but the 250 fighters could have continued, challenging and imposing high casualty rates on the largely Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces who were besieging the city.
The YPG made this deal, with US military officers in the room, after weeks of hard fighting had not resulted in the complete fall of Raqqa. It is also alleged that the Trump administration was impatient for the YPG Kurds to take over hydrocarbon resources in Syria, which they could not do if they remained bogged down in Raqqa, so safe passage for the ISIL fighters and their arsenal was the price of that strategy.

After a shooting Tuesday in California left four people dead, President Donald Trump attempted to offer his condolences in a tweet on his way back from his Asia trip.
However, Trump tweeted a message about the shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas, which occurred earlier this month.
“May God be with the people of Sutherland Springs, Texas. The FBI and Law Enforcement has arrived,” the since-deleted tweet read.

Starting Revamp of All "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul" Posts
For the last month, I've rewatched "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul", all the while taking notes, and discovered lots of new references and symbols. I will be revamping all my posts in light of these observations.
I will also introduce a new post that summarizes the occurrences of sets and props throughout the shows. This outline is a tool to help determine the meanings of significant symbols, based on how they are used in the shows.
These updates are in anticipation of making a presentation at the SWPACA meeting in Albuquerque in early February, 2018, and also writing a new book about these interesting matters.

Roy Moore, Alabama's Republican Child Molester Hero
It looks like Roy Moore is going to follow the Schwarzenegger/Trump manual on how to fight sex allegations, plus smear the accusers, plus attack the press, plus fund raise off the outrage, plus get all his family, friends, and cronies to offer defenses. It's the same House of Cards dynamic that helped Arnold Schwarzenegger's campaign in 2003. If people suspect a political trap, they'll discount the news, whether or not it's accurate. Everyone enthusiastically supports groping when it's their guy with the grabby hands. Will these robust counterattacks work (and they usually do work), post-Weinstein?:
37 percent of Alabama evangelicals think the allegations are an obviously fake political attack designed to smear a conservative candidate. The fact that liberals are scared enough of Moore to mount an attack like this just shows how effective he is—and thus even more worth supporting.
It’s worth keeping in mind that vanishingly few Alabama evangelicals have read the Washington Post story. They’ve seen summaries in their local newspaper. They’ve seen Fox News coverage emphasizing that it all happened 40 years ago and was “just dating” of 17-year-olds. They’ve heard from local Republican leaders that it’s all an invention. They’ve listened to talk radio that’s dismissed the whole thing as a liberal hoax. And they’re primed to believe all this because they really don’t want to vote for the Democratic fellow anyway.
Simple Efforts to Enforce the Law are Now Deep-State Machinations.

A Republican candidate for U.S. Senate denounced the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks as “deep state” for investigating his alleged hunting violations.
Troy Downing, who’s seeking the GOP nomination, issued a statement Wednesday accusing the department of conducting a “witch hunt” against him, reported the Independent Record.
“It’s unfortunate the liberal Montana FWP deep state is on a witch hunt,” the Downing campaign said.
The statement came in response to a report this week by the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, which revealed Downing was charged with seven misdemeanor violations for buying or applying for resident hunting licenses as a non-resident and cited an eighth time for a similar violation.
Alex Handles The Tree Branch Issue
I've been worried about the tree branch over my house. Just too dangerous to go after it without proper equipment.
