"Fiddler on the Roof" - Music Circus - Dress Rehearsal - July 8, 2024

Gabe had a couple of extra tickets, and he gave them to me. So I went. A curious production. Still trying to sort it out in my head.

My Mood

"You Make Me Feel Mighty Real": Such a good disco tune to remake - Sylvester's best! History, dancing, astronauts: can't go wrong!

This version from the UK too!

And this video, that looks like 1979 out of control....

Beware the Ocean

Growing up in New Mexico, in the desert southwest, certain fascinations passed me by. (This is Madeline Pendleton, who often opines on U.S. foreign policy from a left-wing viewpoint, so she's cool.)

I Agreed With a Tiny Bit of the Supreme Court's Ruling

I agreed to a limited extent with the Supreme Court ruling to make it easier to remove homeless encampments. Municipal authorities have an obligation to create conditions where businesses can thrive, government buildings remain open to the public, and private property isn’t intruded upon. Homeless encampments can threaten those conditions.

Still, will municipal authorities use their powers wisely?

Practice

On the afternoon of June 27th, there was an abrupt clatter out on the back porch. A branch had fallen from the tree above, and it broke into pieces.

Jasper and I ran outside onto the back porch and about twenty crows roosting in the trees above (a murder, if you will) began cawing in unison.

I think this was practice.

So, That Debate on June 27th

Without effective moderators in place, without someone who could stop Trump from changing the subject at his whim, there was no hope. Trump mauled Biden.

So Biden got a bump in the post-debate polling, and outraised Trump $12M to $8M. I’m thinking the reason was simply that 1.) people understood the unfairness of the debate. As soon as Trump sensed that CNN wasn’t going to enforce the already-loose, agreed-upon rules of the debate then he could get away with anything. And he did. The audience was decent and sided with the underdog- Biden; and 2.) partisan polarization is so strong that one debate would not really be enough to change anything.

And the New York Times called for Biden to withdraw, but not the convicted felon.  Just a reminder that there is no real liberal press in this country. As I have consistently urged since the Wen Ho Lee scandal in the 90s, please cancel all NY Times subscriptions.

Unless you can readily name your replacement candidate (and seriously, you should have started working on this a year ago), it’s time to stop badgering Biden and start working with him.

And now we get the overwrought panic by Democrats to change the nominee at the last possible moment.  Biden needs to hurt someone, in order to reestablish people's respect and fear.  First off, kick ABC News out of the White House Press Room, followed quickly by the New York Times.  They've been bothsidesing enough.  Time to end this crap.

The Flooding at McCook Lake

I saw this video on TikTok late last month, and it bothered me because of the sheer injustice of it. Government authorities deliberately flooded this area, in order to avoid flooding in wealthier areas.

@myrandapolisci Replying to @Janya🇵🇷 Here is the update. McCook Lake was completey destroyed after a levee was built to redirect all of the wayer to rhem protecting other communitites. Absolute devastation so many people I know lost everything. There is definitely more to the poltics I can get in to later. This is what im angry about in this moment. #southdakota #kristinoem #governoem #nationalguard #naturaldisaster #damfailure #dambreach #siouxcity #mccooklake #flood #mothernature #climatechange #liberal #leftist #fyp ♬ original sound - Myranda Kazos

Sorry For Lack of Posting Lately

I've been trying to prepare a "Better Call Saul" presentation early, for next February, actually. I'm going to have a cardiac ablation procedure on July 26th, which has a roughly 1 in 200 chance of resulting in death. I figure this video will be my legacy in the event I hit the jackpot on July 26th.
