I've long thought that there is a huge unsatisfied yearning by Europeans wanting to see the Albuquerque of "Breaking Bad." If only they could get the well-grounded introduction that Andrea got!
Sacramento area community musical theater (esp. DMTC in Davis, 2000-2020); Liberal politics; Meteorology; "Breaking Bad," "Better Call Saul," and Albuquerque movie filming locations; New Mexico and California arcana, and general weirdness.

Riding with James Gelet and Andrea Nowak - August 30, 2022
Taking photographs of filming locations for "Breaking Bad," "Better Call Saul," and other Albuquerque-based movies is usually a pretty solitary activity, but sometimes chance intervenes. Unbeknownst to me, Andrea Nowak from Essen, Germany made plans to vacation in Albuquerque, and had arranged to meet with James Gelet and have him show her around the filming locations. James is a pro with filming locations! Since I was in town too, all three of us got together on Tuesday, August 30th, and staged scenes, with Andrea playing Kim Wexler. We had a blast!
Love these Marc
ReplyDeleteAwesome, Marc.
ReplyDeleteEuropeans seem to be drawn to much of our culture and history. I know many who frame their first visit to Montana and the Little Bighorn Battlefield in similar ways as those who first visit ABQ and the Walter White House: reaching Mecca.
I've never left comments here before, so I thought it would include my name. I'm not the kind of person who leaves a comment unidentified. The previous comment about Europeans fascination with our culture and history was from me.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your final updated book on all these locations. That's an additional fun and rewarding benefit from the Gilligan universe that sadly, we lose.
Bob Reece
Hi Bob! Somehow, I think we'll have the Gilligan universe with us for some time yet. What I'd like to see happen is a new, series in several years, focused on Holly White. (I tried writing a prequel pilot for Lydia, but ran into a problem, so set it aside). The universe could outlive Gilligan if it's done right.
