In the three page complaint field by Yolo DA Jeff W. Resig, 16-year-old Daniel William Marsh is being charged with two counts of first degree murder for the deaths of 87-year-old Oliver Northup and 76-year-old Claudia Maupin.
The DA’s office told FOX40 that Marsh will be tried as an adult. He was arrested Tuesday after several search warrants were sent out. FBI agents were seen at a home near where the couple’s bodies were found.
Four special circumstances were added to Marsh’s charges, along with an enhancement of using a deadly weapon: killing more than one victim, heinous and depraved murder, lying in wait and torture.
The brief notes that Marsh was 15 at the time of the murders back on April 14.
Marsh was honored by the Red Cross of Yolo County in 2009 when he was 12. The boy was said to have saved his father’s life after a heart attack. Marsh grabbed the wheel of the car his father was driving, and after the car came to a stop Marsh was able to restart the man’s heart.
