Various "Breaking Bad" Sites Visited On Recent Trip

The White, Many-Windowed Building

White Many-Windowed Building, Approximately 3421 Pan American Freeway NE (Season 4, episode 13, "Face Off"). Saul and Walt chit-chat here.

What an interesting looking place! What was its purpose?

"WallDruggie" talked to someone who worked nearby who said it used to be a girl's school. That is plausible, but there may have been other purposes as well.

North side.

Well-assembled concrete and rock retaining walls (e.g., supporting tree base) show loving construction.

North side.

Front side.

South side.

Well-made concrete-and-rock foundations to support wooden picket fences (since collapsed).

Fire pit on south side.

Windows seem to display solid bars, making escape from upper floors difficult, if not impossible.

Back side of building, on east side, displays label: "Book Alliance Program". It may be that even as the rest of the building was abandoned, that some function lingered on in this anteroom.

Interior of lower floor, showing fireplace.

Interior of lower floor, showing living space and kitchen. Electricity was available here. It couldn't have been abandoned THAT long ago.

Modern-day Juvenile Reintegration facility sprawls to the west of this building. Shown is a recreational area with basketball hoops, surrounded by tall banks of razor wire.

Bus Stop Near Gibson Hospital

Bus stop. (Season 2, episode 3, "Bit By A Dead Bee"). Just west of Gibson Hospital, with the neon backdrop from the McDonald's at San Mateo & Gibson.

Mexican Field Hospital

Mexican MASH Unit, about 3301 Second St. SW (Season 4, episode 11, "Crawl Space"). Across from city limits sign on Second Street.

(35.039705ø, -106.658902ø)

"Six miles from 'Texas'"

Met 'WallDruggie' at Barelas Cafe. We had planned to visit the Mexican field hospital site, but I explained we might have trouble because I had passed by the location and the gate was closed. Nevertheless, on the return trip, the gate was mysteriously open. So we drove on-site and snapped only just a few photos when Irritated Guys In A Large Cab Pickup Truck Towing A Horse Trailer showed up. I quickly explained what we were doing to Irritated Guy #1, and we were firmly escorted from the property.

Walt Goes Naked - Store Interior

Just the day before, "WallDruggie" had visited and confirmed that Jerry's Market, 7553 Isleta Blvd. SW, was the location where Walt Went Naked (Season 2, episode 3, "Bit By A Dead Bee"). She was kind enough to take me there.

RV Surveillance Location

"WallDruggie" brought her laptop computer with screenshots, so based on tree branch locations, we were able to confirm that River Park in Los Lunas (Highway 6 and the Rio Grande River) was the location of Hank's RV surveillance (Season 3, episode 5, "Mas").

Parking Lot Outside Gale's Apartment

Gale's Apt., said to be at 6353 Juan Tabo Blvd. NE #6, but Juan Tabo ends about the 6200 block (Season 3, episode 13, "Full Measure").

Interior possibly on set. Exterior is Mesa Verde Apartments, 4610 Eubank Blvd. NE, NNE corner of complex, looking west (Season 4, episode 1, "Boxcutter").

(35.133690ø, -106.531260ø)

The big tree on the right is barely-visible on TV.

Border Landscape - Hola DEA

Cabezon Road is located on Zia Indian Pueblo land about 4.5 miles south of San Ysidro, New Mexico. It was down this road where the border landscape was filmed (Season 2, episode 7, "Negro y Azul").

(35.501973°, -106.818708°)

Cabezon Road slips past the end of a remarkable-looking ridge as it passes into the plain where Tortuga's head was found on a tortoise. The ridge-end is shown here.

Ridge on the left.

"What's the matter, Schrader? You act like you've never seen a severed human head on a tortoise before!"

This hilltop (or a shorter hill to the right) may have been the location where the DEA folks set up their observation post.

The ridge again. There are caves about ten miles NW of this spot, and I wonder if there are caves near here too.

The two hills. I wanted to proceed further, but there was a mud wallow (foreground) that made me hesitate. In addition, I could hear guns in the distance from target shooters, and I didn't want to press my luck.

White Mesa, with its mine, appears in the distance, almost like a glacier. The whiteness of White Mesa was also visible on TV.

Police Substation

Police Substation, James Dwyer Memorial Police Substation, 12700 Montgomery Blvd. NE (Season 4, episode 3, "Open House").

Location where Marie was taken after her arrest.

Interesting sculpture outside the police substation.

Georgia O'Keefe Discussion

Parked Car beside house, 4507 Robin Ave. NE (Season 3, episode 11, "Abiquiu").

Jesse & Jane discuss Georgia O'Keefe's art.

Casa Tranquila

Gus and Tio Hector Salamanca meet to talk about old times.

This facility is rapidly being renovated for some other purpose.

Andrea Cantillo's New Home

Andrea Cantillo's New Home, 1011 Forrester Ave. NW (Season 4, episode 8, "Hermanos").

Andrea's more-upscale digs.

Mike's Bar

Mike's Bar, Louie's Pub and Grill, 5603 Menaul Boulevard NE, (Season 4, episode 2, "Thirty Eight Snub").

Jesse Drop-Off Point

Jesse Drop-Off Point, La Semilla Rd. SE (or, alternatively, Dragway Rd. SE). (Season 4, episode 12, "End Times").

Power lines and an adjacent rifle range.

(35.011458°, -106.596565°).

Albuquerque At Night

City Montage, Rooftop near Total Community Care, 904-A Las Lomas Rd NE (Season 4, episode 6, "Cornered").

Albuquerque at night.

New Beneke Office

New Beneke Office, Likely "Q" Studios (Season 4, episode 10, "Salud").

Unusual red feature surrounding building is present at "Q" Studios.

Gymnasium

J.P. Wynne High School (3), Gymnasium, Highland High School Gym (Season 3, episode 1, "No Mas"). Walt discusses Tenerife's double jumbo jet catastrophe with a class assembly.

I don't yet have a picture of Highland High School Gym, but "WallDruggie" does, and this is her picture.

Yellow Houses

Yellow Houses, 210 Mulberry St. NE (Season 1, episode 3, "Bag's In The River").

Hank arrests druggies & talks to Marie.

The house in the foreground has been demolished and removed since the Breaking Bad episode was filmed.

Sandia Mountain View From The Dam

NE Heights Sunset (Season 1, episode 6, "Crazy Handful of Nothin'"). Time lapse (Part 1 - Sunset).

Near Paseo del Norte Blvd. & Lowell Drive NE. On inside face of Domingo Baca Dam.

(35.172985ø, -106.509091ø)

Odelia Overpass

Nighttime freeway view (1), Odelia Rd. NE and I-25 (Season 1, episode 6, "Crazy Handful of Nothin'").

Time lapse (part 4).

North side of overpass, looking north.

Nighttime freeway view (2), Odelia Rd. NE and I-25 (Season 1, episode 6, "Crazy Handful of Nothin'").

Time lapse (part 4).

This view is on the south side of the overpass, looking east (Breaking Bad featured a similar view, but on the north side of the overpass, looking east.

Hank Takes Walt On a Detour

Walt & Hank's drive, Starts near 3901 Martin Rd. SW, with a right turn on Camino del Valle, and another right turn on Isleta Blvd. SW. (Season 4, episode 8, "Hermanos").

Hank surprises Walt with a detour.

The detour segment ends with a view of this fence in the background. This fence caused me some confusion: the fence is fairly-new, so it does appear on Breaking Bad, but does not appear on currently-available Google Earth Street View images.

J.P. Wynne High School (2)

J.P. Wynne High School (2), Eldorado High School, 11300 Montgomery Blvd. NE (Season 1, episode 7, "No Rough Stuff"; Season 2, episode 6, "Peekaboo"; Season 2, episode 8, "Better Call Saul"; Season 3, episode 4, "Green Light")

In Season 2, many school scenes are shot at this location.

Walt's Good-News Parking Lot

Parking Lot, South of Sunport and West of University (Season 4, episode 13, "Face Off").

Walt gets good news!
