"Catch The Rain"

I was unaware to the extent that the January, 2011 Queensland floods provoked an explosion of song writing. There are quite a few of them out there!

This is an especially moving song. I don't know about Verse 1, but Verse 2 refers to Jordan Rice's tragic sacrifice, which moved all of Australia to tears:
"Catch the Rain"
A song I wrote today after reading about these 2 devastating stories about victims of the Queensland Floods. Hope you like it

Lyrics:

Verse 1:
A mother holds her baby girl
In her eyes she saw the world
But today she sees the water rising
Before she could say goodbye
They lift her towards the sky
She looks back and those beautiful eyes are gone

Chorus:
Lord Catch the Rain, May the gaps in your fingers not part
Lord Catch the rain, but let your love flood our hearts

Verse 2:
A boy holds his mother's hand
She holds on with all she can
She says, "Son, your love saved your brother"
He says, "Mummy I don't want to die,
but I'd rather he live than I,
And you're here and you're all that I need."

Chorus:
Lord Catch the Rain, May the gaps in your fingers not part
Lord Catch the rain, but let your love flood our hearts
